Created in 1997, the constituency of Hitchin and Harpenden unites nine wards from the District of North Hertfordshire and seven wards from the District of St Albans. If you fall within the boundaries of this map, then you live within the constituency.
Hitchin and Harpenden are two relatively similar towns that - by virtue of being on different railway lines and split across different local authorities - sadly have relatively little interaction outside of elections. But the whole area voted strongly in favour of continued EU membership in 2016 - over 60% of people backed 'Remain'. That result ultimately convinced the constituency's long-time MP, the arch-eurosceptic Peter Liley, to stand down early. Sadly his replacement, Bim Afolami, has been a profound disappointment - never once voting against his party whip, and seemingly prioritising his own career advanced over the interests of his constituents.
